Duties and Responsibilities: Prosthetists design and make replacement limbs.  Orthotists work with patients that need extra support for their muscles, spine, or limbs.  Design, make, and fit apparatuses made of plastic, wood, leather, and metal that help stabilize, strengthen or replace body parts.  

 

Salary: $25,000 - $40,000

 

Education: Students should take challenging science, math, and English courses in high school. Some colleges and universities offer bachelor degrees in orthotic and prosthetic programs.

 

 

Reflection: I would like to be an orthotist because they make pretty decent money.

Duties and Responsibilities: Opticians fit and dispense eyeglasses for patients based upon prescriptions written by ophthalmologists or optometrists.  Optician’s help the customer’s select eyeglass frames and then measure their faces so that correct size frames can be ordered.

 

Average Salary:  $19,000 - $40,000`

 

Education: Students should take high school courses in physics, algebra, mechanical drawing, and geometry.  A high school diploma or GED certificate is needed to begin training as an optician.  

Reflection: I do not want to be an optician because I want to be a doctor

Reflection: What I think this statement means is that when you think your good is when you do what your asked for but excellence is when you do more then what you are asked to do.

Duties and Responsibilities: Optical laboratory technicians grind and fit eyeglass lenses into frames according to prescriptions written by ophthalmologists or optometrists.

Salary: $15,000 - $20,000

Education: A high school diploma or GED certificate is needed to begin optical laboratory training.  Training programs last between six months and one year and are provided by vocational schools and community colleges.  Some retail store optical departments provide on-the-job training.

Reflection: I would not like to be a optical Laboratory technician because I want to be a doctor not this.

Reflection: What this statement is trying to say is that it is better for you to help people instead of waiting or winning the other guy because if you win or lose it really doesn’t matter because it’s all about helping each other

Ophthalmologist

Ophthalmologist

 

Duties and Responsibilities: Ophthalmologists are physicians who specialize in the treatment of eye disorders and diseases.  They treat vision problems and write prescriptions for both pharmaceuticals and corrective eyeglass lenses.  When necessary, they perform eye surgery. 

 

Salary: $90,000 - $150,000

 

Education: Only physicians may study to become ophthalmologists.  After completing medical school and an internship, an ophthalmologist must then complete a three to five year residency in an approved ophthalmology program.  After completing their residency program they must pass an examination to be certified.

 

Reflection: I would like to be one because they make pretty good decent money.
